Sarah Elmaleh is comfortable and happy portraying roles that reflect the various facets of her identity. As a director and voice actor for videogames, Sarah believes in a collaborative process where actors contribute to tone, structure, writing and content.
A keen player growing up, she’s still passionate about the growth possibilities and cross fertilization of games but she doesn’t necessarily want to play all the games that she’s had a role in or that she’s directed.
Her characters run the gamut of villains, monsters, heroines and creatures. Text is only part of what she has to vocalize. Often, it’s a range of action noises and screams and she’s adamant that there are union protections so an actor doesn’t suffer vocal damage.
In an industry where half the players are female, Sarah works to encourage more women writers and producers and characters that reflect wider racial diversity and gender orientation.
